Electrical Ops, Inc. does not use this app to track your movements, build advertising profiles, or collect information for marketing. We do not sell or rent your personal information. The app has no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not require an account.
This policy covers the Weather Benchmark and Trip Weather pages at stingerprosoftware.com/weather/ and the Android application that displays them, including the Android test version. Electrical Ops, Inc., Texas, United States, provides this software under the Stinger Pro Software brand. It does not cover unrelated pages or products you choose to visit.
1. Information used to provide the features
You choose the places you want to view. The app uses the city, ZIP code, street-address search, map position, or coordinates you provide to retrieve weather, maps, historical records, and optional overlays. A selected location can identify a home or other private place even when you label it “Home.” These service requests are necessary to deliver the requested features; they are not advertising tracking.
Trip planning also uses the stops, departure time, stop durations, road preferences, and vehicle or fuel estimates you enter. Routing requests include route coordinates and routing preferences, including applicable vehicle dimensions or weight. Weather requests use checkpoint coordinates. Nearby-place searches use a search area and type of stop. Not every field you enter is sent to every provider.
2. Device location is optional
Manual city, ZIP and street-address entry does not use device location services. Trip Weather offers “Use my location as start.” Only when you select that feature does it request a device location reading, subject to your browser or Android permission settings. The current Android app declares approximate and precise location permissions for that optional feature. You can decline permission and enter your location manually.
The app does not continuously monitor your location or collect background location history. If you use a device reading as a trip stop, that coordinate becomes part of the trip and is used in its route and weather requests. You can revoke location permission in your device or browser settings.
3. Information stored on your device
The app uses local browser or Android WebView storage to remember selected locations, display names, preferences, saved setup links, forecast caches, and imported trip references. This is functional storage, not an advertising identifier. Browser and installed Android app storage are separate. There is no developer account-based synchronization service.
Reports, backup files, and shared setup or trip links can contain coordinates, location names, routes, and other information you entered. Setup links encode this information; they do not encrypt it. Anyone receiving a link may read the information it contains. Opening a link sends its URL to the website, and URLs may appear in browser history or server logs. Your browser or chosen backup/share service may also sync or retain these items.
Weather Benchmark's specific-address feature saves the confirmed coordinates and display name, rather than the searched street address, unless you choose the address as your display name. Trip stop names may contain matched addresses. File imports are processed by the app on your device, not uploaded to a developer file-storage service. Android file selection and export use the files or destinations you explicitly choose.
4. Outside services and information they receive
The app contacts external services to load its features. Depending on your selections, these include:
- NOAA / National Weather Service / NCEI and Regional Climate Centers' ACIS: forecast, alert, radar, space-weather and historical-weather requests, including relevant coordinates, stations, areas or date ranges.
- U.S. Geological Survey, OpenStreetMap, and ArcGIS-hosted services: map tiles, terrain, elevation, earthquake, wildfire and aviation-layer requests for the displayed area. Wildfire services include National Interagency Fire Center data.
- U.S. Census Geocoder: street addresses submitted through our website's address-search endpoint. The application endpoint does not intentionally cache address searches or maintain an address-search database.
- Valhalla / FOSSGIS and Private.coffee Overpass: route calculation and nearby-place searches.
- ADSB.lol: aircraft information for the displayed area, requested through our website. The endpoint groups requests into nearby geographic areas and caches public aircraft results without creating visitor profiles.
- Zippopotam.us: ZIP-code lookup when used. The included GeoNames place database is searched locally after download.
For direct connections, providers receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address, request time, requested URL or area, and browser/app information. For requests relayed through our server, the upstream provider normally sees our server's connection rather than your device's connection. Providers may retain their own technical records under their policies.
If you open Google Maps, RepeaterBook, road-report sites or other outside links, those services handle information under their own policies. Google Maps links may contain your search area or route. Google Play and Android may process installation, purchase, security and diagnostic information independently of our app, and may make store reports or order information available to us. We do not add Google's advertising or analytics SDKs to this app. See Google's Privacy Policy for Google's practices.
5. Website operation and support
Our hosting infrastructure may create access, error or security logs containing IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs (including query parameters), and browser information. Such technical processing can occur even though the application has no visitor analytics. We use operational information for providing, maintaining and securing the service, not advertising profiles.
If you contact us, we receive the email address, message and attachments you send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot or address your request. Please do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for support. Where needed, information may be handled by our hosting or email providers, or disclosed to comply with applicable law or protect the service.
6. Retention and deletion
- Local settings and caches: remain until replaced or removed. Use your browser's clear-site-data controls, or Android Settings → Apps → this app → Storage → Clear data/storage. Uninstalling the Android app removes its app storage. These actions do not delete separately saved files, bookmarks or recipients' copies.
- Backups, reports and links: delete them from Downloads, bookmarks, messages or the storage service where you saved them. Opening an old setup link can restore its locations after local data has been cleared.
- Server processing: the application does not maintain a user-account database or a personal location-history database. Public aircraft cache entries are replaced as requests are processed; cache freshness is not a guaranteed deletion period. Hosting-provider logs and backups have retention determined by the hosting configuration and provider practices, rather than by an in-app deletion control.
- Support and business records: retained as needed to resolve the request and meet relevant legal, accounting or security obligations. Records held independently by external services follow those services' retention policies.
To ask about or request deletion of personal information held by Electrical Ops, Inc., contact us below. Identify the relevant message or interaction; do not send passwords. We will assess and respond to the request, explain information we cannot locate or must retain, and take appropriate action. There is no Weather Benchmark user account to close.
7. Security and policy changes
The app uses HTTPS for its website and data-service requests. The Android app restricts its internal web features to our weather website, blocks unencrypted traffic, and disables third-party cookies in its WebView. Local data is protected by your device and browser controls; exported files and shared links are not encrypted by this app. No internet service or device can guarantee absolute security.
We will update this page if the app's data practices change and revise the date above. Material changes requiring consent will be presented before the affected processing, where applicable.
