How the other locations compare
Values cover the selected forecast window. Average wind uses hourly speeds; prevailing direction is the most frequent direction. Peaks are the highest available forecast values.

Wildfires: orange dots = reported locations; shaded outlines = available mapped boundaries. Latest reports, not forecasts or evacuation zones. Coverage and reporting times vary. Source: NIFC / WFIGS. Texas fire updates.

Loading available radar times…
Drag or pinch to explore. Play shows recent precipitation movement—not a future forecast. Radar times are UTC; warning outlines show current alerts, not historical alerts. Animated coverage: contiguous United States.

Checking…Aircraft: ADSB.lol, ODbL 1.0. Coverage varies; aircraft may be missing or delayed. For general interest, not navigation. Aircraft hide during past radar frames.
Radar shows observed precipitation, not a forecast. Images may include ground clutter, birds or other non-precipitation returns.
Natural hazards · event history
Choose a type or all three, select years, then load records for the visible map area. Use View map to position the map or see the results. Nothing downloads until you press Load history. These are past events, not current warnings or future risk.
No historical layer loaded. NOAA tornado and cyclone archives currently end in 2025.
Red: tornado reports (simplified tracks or starting points). Purple: cyclone center tracks, not the full wind, rain or storm-surge footprint. Brown: earthquake epicenters, not shaking boundaries. Cyclone coverage: Atlantic and eastern/central North Pacific. Missing records do not mean a property is safe. Current wildfires remain a separate map tool.

Temperature extremes, rainfall and wind history by location
A daily high exactly at the selected threshold counts. Counts use the reported value, not a rounded whole-degree display.

How these comparisons work
Heat days have daily highs at or above your selected heat threshold (100°F by default); freezing days have daily lows ≤32°F, not necessarily all-day freezing. Missing days break streaks; runs stop at calendar-year boundaries. Daily station observations can use observing-day boundaries rather than midnight.
Heat intensity adds max(daily high −selected heat threshold, 0); cold intensity adds max(32°F −daily low, 0), measured in °F-days. Days exactly at the threshold count but contribute zero excess degrees. Annual mean averages (high + low)/2 where both exist. These are comparison measures based on daily extremes, not hourly exposure or standard heating/cooling degree days.
Year selectors list years containing any retrieved observations. Partial years are shown but excluded from rankings. The current year stops at yesterday using your device date and is never ranked against complete years. All available years retrieves each chosen station’s period of record; it does not combine stations or retrieve every historical station in the area.
For each measure, screen up to six NOAA GHCN stations within 50 miles, including nearby cooperative and airport stations. First prefer stations reporting within seven days of the requested endpoint with at least 90% paired-temperature or precipitation coverage in the current year. Then choose by complete recent years, consecutive complete years, daily coverage, and distance. Candidate screening uses ACIS; displayed records use NOAA GHCN-Daily with flagged values excluded, using the same station’s preliminary ACIS reporting series for the current year when it is at least as current as the archive. If the archive download fails, the same station’s available ACIS daily series is shown with an explicit source notice instead. It has not been independently checked against the archive by this app. The source and dates are labeled. Counts from incomplete periods are lower bounds, not full-period totals. This evaluates record coverage, not a guarantee of property-level accuracy. Temperature and precipitation stations can differ; names and distances are shown. Precipitation includes rain and snow/ice water equivalent. Missing and multi-day accumulated precipitation entries are excluded; trace counts as zero measurable inches. A daily maximum cannot establish a maximum hourly rainfall rate.
Historical wind is retrieved directly from NOAA NCEI daily summaries at a separately selected airport station within 50 miles. Daily average, fastest two-minute wind and fastest five-second gust are separate measurements. The wind section shows coverage, station distance, dates and any app-review readings excluded from comparisons. Its year selector can also be changed independently; choosing a temperature/rainfall year selects that wind year when available.
